I have three daughters Liliana (4th grade), Milina (3rd grade) and Leilani (1st grade). My husband James (alumni of Plum) and I moved to Murrysville seven years ago after spending about 10 years in Raleigh North Carolina. Currently I am the Vice President/Development Director for a local non-profit, Cuddles for Kids ® . While in North Carolina I was a high school Social Studies teacher, cheerleading and softball coach. Our three girls keep us very busy with activities, the favorite being swimming for the YMCA swim team. As a family we love to explore and try new things traveling through Pittsburgh and beyond. I am an alumnus of Ohio State (O.H.) and he of UPJ, loving all things Pitt. On fall Saturdays you can find us bickering to decide which flag is flying from the house and you can typically see the girls sporting gear from one of those teams.
I am excited to serve in this role of Co-President on the PTO of the Intermediate school. As a former teacher I know how impactful it can be to have the support of the families whose kids you are teaching daily and I look forward to being a bridge between those groups. In previous years I have chaired and worked on multiple committees in the PTO including Bake Sale, Display Cases and Welcome & New Student Committees. I am excited to continue to work together as a team with all volunteers for the good of our students, teachers and community.
I am committed to cultivating inclusiveness where not only is everyone welcome, but their ideas are heard and valued. And if for any reason you feel that you aren’t being heard or valued please reach out to me directly.
My husband, Adam, and I have one daughter, Elliot. She will be entering 3rd grade this fall at the Intermediate. One of her favorite activities to do is to swim. She belongs to the Meadowink and FAST swim teams. I work at Carnegie Mellon University as an Operations Coordinator. I also serve as the Past Chair for CMU's Staff Council and am a Board Member for the local non-profit, Cuddles for Kids. When we aren't working or doing sports, we love spending time with our friends and family and really enjoy weekend getaways. I was a Co-President for the Primary School last year and volunteered in many events. I look forward to an exciting school year and getting to meet all of our volunteers. We strive to bring your kids diverse, inclusive programs filled with a sense of belonging. I'm always available to hear your suggestions and feedback.
My daughter Adalyn will be a fourth grader this year. Our family (husband Ryan) moved to Murrysville 7 years ago. Adalyn is what I call a "mover." She constantly has us jogging, hiking, biking. She loves all things sports - has tried just about everything out there - her favorites now are soccer, basketball, and swim. We are a family of "helpers" who support and volunteer with a variety of charitable organizations. Being a "helper" carries over into my PTO role, I have enjoyed chairing and working on multiple committees at Sloan. The book fair is one of Adalyn's and my favorite, we love to read and grow our at home library! Outside of school life, I am an Office Manager at FedEx.
I am excited to work together this upcoming school year, supporting our teachers (who do such an amazing job inspiring, motivating, and educating our kiddos) and organizing fun events for the students at our school!
I am very excited to be a part of the PTO this year. My fiancé and I have one daughter, Aria, who is in 4th grade this year. She is very excited that "Mommy gets to spend time at her school." I graduated from Plum, but I spent a lot of my time at my grandparents' home in Murrysville. I moved to Murrysville 14 years ago into the house that my grandfather built. Through the years I have been involved with many of the school's activities. My favorites are the Book Fair and Winter Shop. I'm looking forward to helping organize and participate in this year's events for our school.
I’m a CPA and work for Carnegie Mellon University in their central Finance department as the Senior Director for Accounting and Financial Reporting. I’ve served in a variety of volunteer roles, including homeroom mom and Co-Treasurer of the Primary school PTO. As Co-Treasurer of the Intermediate School PTO, my duties include recording financial transactions and providing Treasury updates at the PTO meetings. My
husband Shawn and I live in Murrysville and have three sons, Trevor (a recent FR graduate), Jeremy (5th grade) and Dylan (3rd grade). The boys have been involved in Cub Scouts and also play the piano and drums. We enjoy spending time together as a family, especially swimming in our pool during the summer and trying my husband’s latest barbecue recipes. I look forward to working with everyone this upcoming school year.
Hi! I'm Jarid Shipley and I along with my wife Kate are excited to be a part of the PTO this year. I have two children, Isaac, fourth grade, and Tessa, second grade. Our family is involved with the SPY swim team (I recently got certified as a swim official) and we enjoy being outside, especially going skiing during the winter months. Well, I should say Kate and the kids enjoy skiing and I enjoy helping them ski. I am an avid baseball fan and also serve as a little league and high school umpire. Our family moved to Murrysville from Edgewood 6 years ago. I am especially excited to support our teachers and school district because I was a high school history and financial education teacher for almost a decade before switching to the non-profit sector. Now I manage a team of housing counselors for NeighborWorks Western PA, helping educate people on budgets and their finances, but my favorite topic is helping people understand the process to buy a house.
I am stepping out of my comfort zone this year to serve on the PTO Board. Volunteering is a core value of mine, but can be challenging to make it a part of regular life. I saw the chance to volunteer as a way to understand more about my childrens' experiences at school and to support an educational community we are grateful to live in. As Jarid mentioned, we have Isaac in 4th grade and Tessa in 2nd grade. During the week I am employed as a Certified Prosthetist for Union/De La Torre Orthotics and Prosthetics. I work directly with amputees to fit prosthetic limbs in a variety of patient care settings. I also teach swim lessons at the Sampson Family YMCA. Our move to Murrysville, 6 years ago, allows me to live in a home with woods as our backyard. My favorite thing to do by myself, or with my family, is to be outdoors in nature. Most weekends (weather permitting) you can find me by our fire pit in our backyard. I am grateful to be teaching my children how to ski and find a love for swimming on the SPY swim team. I sincerely look forward to learning all about how the PTO supports our schools and strives to improve the day to day experiences of the students, staff and faculty.
